I waited over a month for a crucial document to arrive, missing a big deadline. Now I always use digital copies and express services, no exceptions.

Friend of mine got totally stranded in Bali last year. His new debit card got stuck in mail limbo for six weeks. He was locked out of his bank account with almost no cash left. Had to borrow money from other travelers to eat for a week. The stress alone was a huge lesson. He won't trust regular mail for anything important ever again.
