Finally figured out coworking etiquette after 3 months of awkwardness
I kept booking calls in quiet zones at shared spaces in Chiang Mai. A guy named Tom finally told me last week that everyone else in the room could hear every word. I switched to phone booths and lobby areas and suddenly people stopped giving me dirty looks. Why do so many digital nomads ignore the zone signs? Has anyone else dealt with getting the silent treatment for talking too loud?

Three months is a long time to be getting death stares before someone clued you in. So let me ask you this - after you finally figured out the quiet zone was a phone booth, did you ever walk back into that room and notice how many other people were still on calls in there? I'm genuinely curious if it was just you missing the signs or if the whole place was a free-for-all. Seems like the zones only work if everybody actually reads them, and from what I've seen in Bangkok co-working spots, half the people treat quiet zones like suggestions anyway.

Started using noise canceling headphones and never looked back.
