Debating whether to keep my home office hours or adopt local time while nomading

I'm in Portugal now but my boss in Chicago wants me online during their workday, so I start at 3 PM here and finish late. Some nomads I met say this ruins the chance to enjoy the place, while others think keeping home hours ensures steady pay and client trust. I'm torn because missing sunset hikes feels wrong, but so does skipping team calls. What do you all do with time zones?

Hey, what if you flipped the script and used those late hours to your advantage? Most tourists are out during the day, but you could have quiet mornings to explore empty streets and cafes. Your brain might work better after a sunny hike, making those late calls more focused. I knew a guy who wrote his best code at 2 AM because the world was asleep. Maybe this weird schedule is a hidden gift for deep work and unique experiences.

This is such a common thing now with remote work. Lots of folks end up chasing paychecks while their real life happens without them. Finding a middle ground might mean setting clear limits with your boss.
