That moment I realized I was parting hair wrong for years

I've been doing foils for about 6 years now, and last month a client in Portland asked why I kept crossing my sections. I had no idea what she meant, so she showed me a video from another stylist and I nearly dropped my brush. I was doing this deep zigzag part that pulled the hair too tight, which made my foils slip and blur the lines. It took her 10 minutes to explain the straight, clean part method and now my work looks way crisper. Has anyone else had a client accidentally teach them something huge like that?

I saw a TikTok about that same zigzag mistake last week.
