PSA: a client in Tulsa cried at the shampoo bowl and I still think about it
I had a lady in her 70s sit down for a basic wash and cut at my old salon in Tulsa, and about a minute into the scalp massage she started crying and apologized, saying nobody had touched her head since her husband passed two years ago. I gave her the full 10 minutes instead of the usual 5 and now I always ask new clients if they want the longer massage. Has anyone else had a wash bowl moment like that?
Honestly that scalp massage gets people every time. I always keep the room quiet and ask if they want the neck and shoulder part too, cause some folks just need that touch and dont even know it till they get it. If someone starts crying I just keep my hands moving and dont make it weird, let them have the moment. Nine times out of ten they tip better and come back every month after that.
