I wrote off the Riverside Park disc golf course for 3 years, then played it with a local last Tuesday
I played that course in 2021 and hated it, the tee pads were cracked and the back 9 was just mud. Last Tuesday a guy named Dale asked to join my round and walked me through it, turns out the city dropped $8,000 on new concrete pads and gravel paths about 6 months ago. The layout I thought was boring actually has some tricky lines if you know where the baskets moved to, which nobody tells you online. Now I'm wondering what other spots in town got fixed up while I wasn't looking. What local course or park did you write off and then get surprised by later?
Man, I was the same way about Cedar Grove! Wrote it off two summers ago because half the baskets were bent and the whole place felt forgotten, then a buddy dragged me back in April and it was like a different park. They redid the pads, cleared a ton of brush, and even added a few alt pin spots that make the short holes way more fun. Honestly it bugs me that the city does all this work and then tells nobody, because I would've been out there way sooner instead of driving 40 minutes to other courses. Now I check the parks department page every few months like some kind of nerd. I was wrong about that place and I'm happy to say it.
