Warning: I trust old forum posts more than any fact check page on TV
Everyone in these debates keeps pointing to some fact check site to settle things, and I just don't buy it. Six months ago a guy at a bar in Akron argued a story was fake because a big site rated it false, but when I pulled up a forum thread from 2011 with 40 pages of links, the original clips and dates lined up fine. Fact check pages give you a paragraph and a rating, no sources you can actually click and follow. The old threads are messy and full of jerks, sure, but at least you can trace where a claim came from. A site with a logo doesn't get my trust just for having a logo. Has anyone here actually changed their mind from a fact check page, or does it just make people dig in harder?
