Warning: got roasted on a 9/11 forum for calling a document fake without checking the paper stock first
Last month I jumped into a debate about a scanned memo from 2001 and called it a forgery based on the font alone, and a guy who spent 20 years in commercial printing pointed out that the paper weight and the staple holes in the scan were the real tells, not the typeface. He walked me through how to read a scan for physical clues first before I say anything about fonts, and honestly it made me look at every "leaked" doc I see now with a whole new checklist. Does anyone else have a go-to step they run through before calling something fake, like a paper or ink test I should add?
