Caught myself mirroring a debunker's tone and it backfired badly

Last week in a thread about the Tucson airport lights, I realized I was doing the same dismissive thing I hate from the other side, quoting sources like a prosecutor instead of just talking. A guy replied 'you sound like the mods we complain about' and it hit me that my whole approach was off. Has anyone else had that moment where you catch your own bias mid-argument, and how did you correct it?

Tbh that hit close to home. Caught myself doing the exact same thing over some weather balloon footage, quoting NOAA like I was cross-examining a witness. Dude just said 'you're no fun anymore' and that stung way more than any counter-argument. Now I try to say 'heres what I saw' instead of 'heres the proof you're wrong'. Still mess it up sometimes but at least I notice.
