Was totally wrong about using canned air for dusting PCs

I always thought canned air was a scam and just used a vacuum on customer towers for 3 years straight until I blew a capacitor on a motherboard last Tuesday. My coworker showed me how canned air actually pushes dust out instead of sucking components loose, and it saved me from replacing my own rig. Has anyone else killed a part using a vacuum before you learned the right way?

Did you at least get a cool spark show out of it? I've been there - fried a fan header on my first build because I thought vacuums were just fine.
