TIL the freezer trick beats a heat gun for stiff charge port cables
Been fixing phones for 6 years and kept fighting with charge port flex cables that were stuck to the frame with that gummy adhesive. Last month I had a Galaxy S21 in the shop where the cable kept tearing no matter how slow I went with the heat gun. An old bench tech from the shop down the street in Dayton told me to toss the phone in the freezer for 10 minutes first. The cold makes the adhesive brittle so the cable lifts off in one piece. I've done it on 14 phones since and haven't torn a single cable. Just make sure you let it sit for a few minutes after pulling it out or you get condensation inside. Anyone else use cold for adhesive jobs or am I late to this one?
