Unpopular opinion: the free community tool swap at the Norwood library beats any online recommendation list I've tried
Last Saturday I showed up at the Norwood library branch for their monthly tool swap, mostly to get rid of a corded drill that had been sitting in my garage since we moved here in 2019. I got there around 9am and there was already a line of about 15 people with bins and boxes, and a guy named Ray was running it with a clipboard and a coffee. The thing that got me was that within 20 minutes, three people had picked up my drill and asked me real questions about it, like how the chuck felt and whether the cord was frayed. I told one lady honestly that the trigger sticks a bit in cold weather, and she still took it, which felt better than any 4 star review I've ever read. Meanwhile I walked out with a working shop vac and a set of clamps from a guy who was moving to Tucson. The whole thing took 90 minutes and I didn't spend a dime. Now I'm wondering if I should start going to the one in the next town over too, or if that's overkill. Has anyone here tried a swap like this and had it go wrong, like someone bringing stuff that was clearly broken?
