My neighborhood app got me a plumber in 20 minutes, but the library waitlist took 6 weeks. Which one is actually the better rec?
Last month my water heater died on a Sunday and I posted in our local community group. Had three plumber names in 20 minutes and a guy at my door by 2pm. Total job was $480 and he was solid. Then last week I tried to get a recommendation for a good book club and got told to join the library waitlist, which is 6 weeks out. Same community, two very different speeds. It got me thinking about which kind of rec actually works better. The fast one is great when you need a body in your house today. The slow one might be better for stuff you actually stick with. I keep going back and forth. So which do you trust more, the 20 minute answer or the 6 week one?
