Told my dive supervisor in Galveston that surface-supplied was overkill for 30 feet of mud work, and I was wrong
I used to think a hard hat rig on shallow harbor jobs was just extra hassle, so I ran SCUBA on a dock repair in Galveston last month. The third day in, my low-pressure hose snagged on rebar and my buddy had to cut me loose, which would have been a much bigger deal if I'd been on a hose with a tender watching. Now I'm not running anything past 20 feet without a hat and a guy on the radio. Anyone else get humbled on a job that seemed too shallow to matter?
