I used to think a quick surface check was enough before a dive

For years, I'd just look at the water and maybe check the wind. Then on a job in Mobile Bay last spring, a storm came out of nowhere and the current got crazy fast. My buddy, who's been diving for 20 years, showed me his whole routine of checking three different tide and marine weather apps, plus calling the local coast guard station. Now I spend a solid 15 minutes before every dive looking at all that data. Anyone else have a specific weather source they trust more than others?

Tell me about it, I used to think checking the sky was a full weather report.

Yeah, that "storm out of nowhere" feeling is the worst. I got caught in a sudden rip once and now I'm glued to Windy and the NOAA marine forecast.
