TIL theres a whole grading scale for comic books and I got ripped off at a flea market for 3 years

Ended up trading like 25 old issues at a booth in Austin for store credit. Guy said they were 'reader copies' worth maybe 50 bucks total. I was happy about it until a buddy at the shop let me borrow his Overstreet guide. Turns out I had a first print Batman 428 in there that goes for 180 in good condition. Mine was near mint too cause I kept em in bags since middle school. Now I check every single number and date stamp before I hand anything over. Anybody else learn the hard way that comic condition is basically a whole job you gotta study?
