Themed variant cover chase broke me at NYCC 2024

I stood in line for 3 hours at the Marvel booth hoping to grab that limited foil Venom #47 cover, then watched the guy two spots ahead snag the last one. The scalper next to me offered it for $180 right there, which felt like a gut punch after I'd already blown $60 on parking and entry. I just walked off and found a back issue bin with a beat-up 1996 issue for $5 that honestly gave me more joy. Anyone else quit the exclusive cover game after one bad con experience?
