Finally saw why everyone defends the 1990s X-Men cartoon
A buddy in Chicago made me rewatch the Phoenix Saga episodes with the original broadcast audio, and I finally got what he meant about the music carrying every emotional beat.

Man, I totally feel this. That theme when Jean starts losing it, it hits way harder with the original audio, the broadcast mix just adds this weight you don't get on the DVDs. Maybe it's just me, but rewatching it as an adult made me appreciate how much the score does the heavy lifting when the animation gets rough.
