Why does nobody talk about how bad pre-ground coffee gets after 2 days in a tin?
I bought a 12 oz bag of pre-ground coffee from a place in Austin 4 months ago and kept it in the little metal tin it came in. For months I thought my drip machine was broken because every cup tasted flat and kind of papery. Then last month my buddy poured me a cup from beans he ground that morning and it was like a totally different drink, sweet and bright. I looked it up and ground coffee loses most of its good smell within like 15 minutes of grinding, so I had been drinking stale dust for a year. Now I grind right before brewing and even my cheap blade grinder beats what I was doing before. What tipped you off that your coffee was going stale before you knew it?
