Made coffee with tap water for 10 years until a friend in Cleveland brought his own bottle

He came over last week and pulled a half gallon of spring water out of his bag. Said he couldn't drink my coffee with what comes out of the faucet here. I didn't believe him so he brewed two cups side by side. Mine tasted like pennies and his was smooth. Now I gotta haul jugs from the store like some kind of snob. Anyone else have a moment where some little detail ruined the way you used to do things?

Three bucks a gallon is what I pay now and it feels insane but so does drinking water that tastes like the inside of a bike pump. It's funny how once you let yourself notice one thing your brain starts finding all these other little corners of life that could be better. I started paying attention to the bread I buy, then the cheese, then the kind of salt I use. Now I'm that guy at the grocery store reading ingredients on everything like it's a test I'm about to fail. It's a slippery slope is what I'm saying. You fix one thing and suddenly your whole life feels like a never ending list of small upgrades you never asked for.

Feel that. Had a buddy from out of town bring his own filtered water for coffee at my place once. Did the same side by side test and yeah, it was night and day. Now I keep a brita pitcher in the fridge and it feels ridiculous but I can't go back. The worst part is when you taste the difference you can't un-taste it.
