Spent $120 on a name brand edge finder, wish I had saved my money

I picked up a Mitutoyo edge finder from a tool truck a few months back. Looked nice, felt quality. But honestly? The $12 import one I had before did the same thing and I never broke it. The name brand one is fine, but it didn't make my setups any faster or more accurate. Has anyone else bought a premium tool only to realize the cheap version was just as good for everyday work?

Totally agree with you on the "felt quality" part. I grabbed a fancy Starrett edge finder once and it sat in my box for months before I realized the cheap one was just as fast to use. The extra cost never made my parts come out any better.

Buddy of mine bought a Mitutoyo mic and still grabs his old Fowler every time.
