Our street went one full week with zero plastic in the recycling bin and I can't tell if it was luck or the new signs
Last Monday my neighbor Deb printed up little cards showing what actually goes in the blue bin. She taped one to every door on our block in Boise, 14 houses total. By Friday we did a walk down the alley and only one bin had a plastic bag in it, which is huge for us. Usually half of them are stuffed with bags and styrofoam and it all gets tossed at the plant.
I'm trying to figure out what actually moved the needle. Was it the cards, or was it that Deb stood out there chatting with everyone? Or just that people get tired of getting the truck to leave the bin with a sticker on it?
Thinking about doing it again next month but with a sign on the bin lids. Has anyone on here gotten a whole block to keep their recycling clean for more than a couple weeks? What got people to actually stick with it?
