Why does nobody talk about greasing trunnions on a Triumph until they seize
I used to hit every fitting on my Spitfire with a grease gun once a season and thought I was covered. Then a guy at the British car meet in Reno asked if I'd done the trunnions and I had no idea what he meant. Turns out those front vertical links need gear oil, not grease, and mine were dry enough that the threads were half gone at 61k miles. Now I pull the plug on each one every 3,000 miles and pump 90wt in until it runs out clean. What else on these old cars gets skipped because the manual buries it in a footnote?
