Back in 2016 I went to an estate auction off Tuckaseegee Road just to kill a Saturday morning. An old contractor next to me pointed at a house across the street and said the fresh white paint and new shutters were hiding the fact that nobody touched the 1978 wiring. He told me to always check the breaker box and the window trim before I even walk the inside. I bought a duplex on Commonwealth Avenue two months later and his trick saved me from a money pit. Now I walk the perimeter before every showing. Anybody else pick up a rule like that from a random stranger at an auction?
