Chose a 12 inch sliding miter over a 10 inch for my shop in Dayton, and the fence space is what got me
The extra reach lets me cut 2x8 baseboard against the fence instead of flipping boards, and after 5 months of trim work in Dayton I would pick it again, but I am curious if anyone here gave up the reach for a lighter saw and regretted it.
