A 30 year vet on a job in Tacoma told me to stop taping my stair stringers before layout, and I want to know if he was right
Cut a set of stairs last Tuesday, 14 risers, 9.5 inch treads. He walked up, peeled my tape off the stringer and said tape stretches when you wrap it around the cuts, mark it or snap it. I argued in my head the whole drive home. Redid my layout with a sharp pencil right off the square instead. Steps sat dead level when I set them. Now I am second guessing the tape on everything. Do you mark your stringers or tape them?
