Rant: I told my mentee to quit her job over a bad review and now I think I was wrong
My mentee got a bad performance review in March and asked me if she should leave her company. I said yes, tell them you are done, life is short. She quit 3 days later with no backup plan. Now it is 5 months later and she is still applying, 40 applications, 2 interviews, nothing. I feel awful about it. The popular advice is always "know your worth and walk," but that only works if you have savings or another offer ready. Here is my new rule: fix the problem first, then decide, not the other way around. Did anyone here ever jump ship on a gut call and regret it?
