Paid $350 for a career coach and it did basically nothing for me
I got laid off from my logistics job in Charlotte back in March and panicked, so I dropped $350 on a career coach I found through a LinkedIn ad. Three sessions, a resume rewrite, and a list of "action items" that was just stuff I already knew. She told me to network more and fix my LinkedIn headline, which honestly I could have gotten from a free YouTube video. The resume she sent back had a typo in the second bullet of my most recent job, so I had to fix it myself anyway. What actually got me interviews was a guy from my old warehouse crew who passed my name to his new company, no coach involved. I want to know if anyone here has actually gotten real value out of a paid coach, and if so what did they do differently than just repackage free advice.
