Vent: my 3 year old dovetail jig died mid batch on a Saturday and I don't think the brand matters
Had 14 drawer boxes half done at my bench in Salem last Saturday when the collet on my jig let go and chewed the bit into the guide plate, ruining two pins before I could hit the switch. I called the maker and all they offered was a 15 percent coupon on a new one, so I filed the collet seat flat by hand with a fine diamond stone and it's been cutting clean all week. Everyone online says you have to baby these jigs and change the bit every 40 cuts, but has anyone here just fixed a worn collet seat yourself and gotten real life out of it instead of buying new?
