Took me 6 hours to hang ONE cabinet door because of a 1/16 inch gap, and I still don't know who was right
Hanging a shaker door on a face frame last Tuesday in my shop, and the gap on the hinge side kept coming out tight at the top and wide at the bottom no matter how many times I tweaked the hinges. After 4 hours of fighting it, I found out the frame itself was racked by about 1/16 inch, so I shimmed the cabinet off the wall and it finally sat right. My old boss would say you should always check the box for square before you even touch a door, but my buddy swears you should just tune the hinges and move on. What do you all do, fix the box or fight the hardware?
