The day I found out I'd been measuring inset doors wrong for 5 years
I was fitting some inset cabinet doors for a client in Akron and kept having to shave like 1/16th off each side to get them to close right. Finally the homeowner, who used to build kitchens in the 80s, watched me and said 'you're measuring off the frame face, not the inside of the opening'. I had been adding the reveal instead of subtracting it the whole time, just grinding down every door to make it work. Twenty minutes of proper measuring and every door fit first try. Has anyone else found out they were doing a basic step backwards after years of compensating?
