My Spotify wrapped had a 47 hour playlist of rain sounds and I finally figured out why
So last week I pulled up my Spotify stats and saw that a 47 hour rain sounds playlist was my number two most played thing all year, right behind my actual music. I was confused because I never sit around listening to rain, but then I checked and the app had been auto playing it every time I finished an album while driving to work in Denver. It just kept going without me noticing because rain sounds are quiet enough to blend into road noise. I switched the autoplay setting off yesterday and my real listening time went up like 3 hours a day. Has anyone else had an app just quietly feed them stuff for basically a year without them clocking it?

The "blend into road noise" part is close but not exactly how it works. Autoplay doesn't care how loud something is, it just keeps queuing tracks after your album ends no matter what, so the rain could've been blasting and you'd still tune it out because your brain stops paying attention to steady sound. I had the same thing happen with a lo-fi beats station on my commute and didn't catch it for months. Check the autoplay toggle under Settings then Playback, that's where it hides.
