My mom's 400 degree oven rule is why her sheet pan cookies keep burning and she won't hear it
My mom has burned chocolate chip cookies on the same sheet pan 6 times since Thanksgiving and she keeps blaming the dough. The real problem is she preheats to 400 and leaves them in for 14 minutes because her old oven ran cold, but this new one runs true. I put a $9 oven thermometer in there last Sunday and it hit 400 in 8 minutes flat, which means her cookies get an extra 6 minutes of heat they never needed. She tried my batch baked at 350 for 11 minutes and admitted they looked better, then went right back to her way on Tuesday. Anyone else deal with a family member who cooks everything like it is still 1998?
