Found a flyer about how much food the local library saves from the dump each month

There was this handwritten sign on the cork board at the co-op that said our library's little free pantry rescued 340 pounds of produce last month alone. I always figured it was just a few cans, not almost a whole ton of food. Has anyone else noticed their library doing stuff like this?

Friend of mine works at a library across town and they've got a whole fridge in the back for stuff that would otherwise get tossed... it's wild how much good food just gets thrown away. The numbers on this stuff are always crazy high.

Wait, so you're telling me there's a secret fridge in the library and it's not for storing overdue books that people are scared to return? Honestly, that's way more useful than a "quiet zone" - at least you can snack while pretending to read Wikipedia articles about ancient history. Ngl, I'd probably start going to the library just to "borrow" some leftover pizza from the staff fridge.
