My sister watched me balance my checking account in my head for a year and finally said, 'you're terrible at this, just write it down.' I paid her $18 for a simple Excel file with category tabs, and tracking every dollar in July showed me I was blowing $140 a month on convenience store snacks. Has anyone else found that just seeing the numbers in a graph made them cut spending without even trying?
