PSA: I thought those 'free city walking tours' were just a scam for tips until I did one in Prague last month.

I was totally wrong, because the guide was amazing and gave us a map with all the cheap local food spots we never would have found, so what's a travel tip you were sure was fake that turned out real?

Remember when Beats by Dre first came out costing over $300? People called those a scam too but they still sold millions. Sometimes the price is about the brand name and the look, not just the parts inside. If someone gets value from the style or status, it's not really a rip-off to them. The market decides what something is worth, not just the cost of materials.
