Hostel vs. Hotel debate: Which actually saves more money?
I tried a $35 hostel dorm in Bangkok last month and ended up spending $20 on earplugs and sleep aids, while my friend paid $60 for a private hotel room and felt fine. Does the extra cost for quiet privacy actually beat budget dorms in the long run? What do you think?

Hostel dorm was a nightmare for me too, quieter hotel rooms just work better.

Oh man, I feel this so hard! One hostel I stayed at had this guy snoring like a chainsaw right above me, and the bunk bed creaked every time someone rolled over. I finally gave up at 2am and just sat in the lobby reading a book until checkout. Hotel rooms might cost more but at least I can actually sleep without earplugs and a prayer.
