Spent $30 on a slow cooker and it paid for itself in a month
I picked up a basic 4-quart slow cooker at Target for $30. Started making big batches of chili and pulled chicken on Sundays. One batch of chili costs maybe $12 in ingredients and gives me 6 meals. So I saved about $60 in takeout costs that first month alone. Anyone else find one kitchen gadget that actually cuts your food bill down?

Did you find you got sick of eating the same thing after a while? I did the same thing with my slow cooker last year and yeah, the savings were real. I started rotating three recipes - chili, salsa chicken for tacos, and a basic beef stew - so I wouldn't get bored. That pulled chicken is a lifesaver too, I throw it on salads or sandwiches all week.

Three recipes on rotation keeps meal prep from feeling like a punishment.
