My neighbor in Billings told me to skip the $9 rotisserie chicken and cook my own, and he was dead wrong
He swore I was throwing away money and handed me a recipe he said would feed four for $4. I spent $11 on a whole raw chicken, plus two hours of oven time and a pan I still have not fully scrubbed, and it came out dry as a bone. The $9 bird at the store already feeds my wife and me for three dinners plus sandwiches, and the bones make a pot of stock that night. If you are pinching pennies, do not let someone guilt you into raw meat math, the precooked one wins on both cost and time. Has anyone else had a friend's cheap recipe idea backfire this hard?
