My aunt in Toledo said my chili was 'too fancy for a Tuesday' and she was right
I used to think a good cheap meal meant loading up on spices and extra cans of stuff to make it feel like a real dinner. My aunt Rose tried my 9 bean chili in Toledo and said flat out 'this tastes like you are trying too hard for a Tuesday,' which stung but stuck with me. Now I just do one can of beans, a pound of ground turkey, and a $1.25 packet of seasoning, and it feeds us for two dinners. Anyone else had to cut back on ingredients to actually save money instead of piling stuff on?
