Hot take: dried beans beat canned beans and it is not close
I did a little test the last few weeks. A 2 lb bag of dried pinto beans was $1.89 at my grocery store here in Dayton, and it made about 12 cups cooked. The same amount in cans would have cost me almost $9. The dried ones also tasted way better, and I could control the salt. But it takes 90 minutes of simmering plus an overnight soak, and I get why some people would rather just pop a can. Is the time worth the savings to you, or do you stick with cans?
