Just realized I bought a $45 candle for the glass jar and have been refilling it with dollar store wax
So my thing is jars and tins. If the container looks good on a shelf I will buy almost anything inside it. Two years back I grabbed this $45 candle from a little shop in Savannah mostly because the jar was a heavy amber glass with a wood lid that actually seals. I burned it, cleaned it out, and it sat on my dresser holding hair ties forever. Then it hit me about a month ago while I was digging through my candle drawer. I had kept like nine empty vessels and was still buying new candles in plastic cups every time, which is the opposite of the whole reason I got into this. So now I buy a $3 bag of plain wax melts and a wick pack from the craft aisle and just re-pour into whatever jar looks best that season. The wax smells fine and nobody can tell, but honestly the part that bugs me is I never once thought to do this until my kid asked why I keep throwing away the nice jars. Does anyone else actually reuse the packaging they bought the thing for, or do you just display it empty like I did for way too long?
