I paid $22 for a cereal box shaped like a cassette tape and the cereal was stale
I saw this retro cereal box at a weirdo shop in Portland last month that looked exactly like a 1988 cassette tape, so I grabbed it without even checking the date. Got it home to my apartment and opened it up, and the cereal inside was so stale it was basically dust in a plastic bag. The box is still sitting on my shelf though because it looks so cool next to my actual old tapes. I keep telling myself $22 is not that bad for decoration, but my roommate keeps laughing at me every time she walks by it. I am torn on whether I should go back for the matching boom box box they had. Has anyone here ever gone back for round two after getting burned like this?

So I can't even judge you because I did almost the exact same thing last year with a cereal box shaped like a VHS tape, except mine cost $25 and the cereal tasted like cardboard from 1995? Here's the sad part, I went BACK and bought the second one when they came out with a matching Walkman box, because apparently my brain thinks "it's decor" cancels out "you just paid real money for stale sugar." My shelf looks great though and nobody who visits ever asks about the cereal, they just say oh cool old tapes, so honestly the lie kind of works in my favor. If the boom box box really matches your setup, just get it, because you already know you'll be mad at yourself in six months when it's gone and selling for $60 online. Just promise me you'll open it over the trash can this time instead of your kitchen counter like I did.
