Switched from peat moss to coir after a greenhouse test in March
I used to swear by peat moss for my seed starting mix. Last spring I ran trays side by side in my small greenhouse in Ohio, 24 cells each with the same tomato seeds. The coir trays germinated 2 days faster and held moisture way more evenly. I also read about the peat bog situation and figured I could try something different. It took one failed batch where I forgot to buffer the coir with lime, but after that I was sold. Anyone else made the switch and struggled with the calcium part?
