My favorite weird site went offline last Tuesday and I can't decide if I should try to save it
There was this site called deadmalls.org that was just grainy photos of empty shopping centers in Ohio, and it hadn't been updated since 2007. Last Tuesday I got a 404 and the domain now goes to a godaddy parking page. So here's the thing. Should I grab a copy from the Wayback Machine and throw it on a free host so people can still poke through it? Or is it better to just let a dead site stay dead, since that's kind of the whole point of this hobby? I only ever found that link because someone dropped it in a comment on a thread about old Sears catalogs. If I save it, I'm basically picking one random person's project to keep alive while a thousand others get lost. What do you all do when a site you liked dies, save it or let it go?
