I used to keep 40+ weird little sites in my browser bookmarks, now I keep them in a $3 notebook from a Michigan gas station
Back when I first got into poking around dead and dull corners of the web, I bookmarked everything. By last spring I had over 40 links crammed into a folder called "stuff" and I honestly could not tell you what half of them were or why I saved them. Half the links died, the other half I forgot the reason I cared. Then in March I was driving through Michigan and stopped at a gas station outside Kalamazoo, and they had these little 70 page spiral notebooks for $3. I bought one on a whim and started writing sites down by hand. Name, what it is, and the exact reason it's a bounty, like "site that logs every pothole reported in Des Moines since 2011" or "page listing the water pressure at 12 public drinking fountains in Boise." Something about writing it out makes me actually remember why it matters, and I flip through it way more than I ever scrolled that bookmarks folder. My rule now is if it doesn't earn a line in the notebook, it doesn't get saved at all. Curious if anyone else here keeps a paper list, or am I just being weird about it?
