The 22 minute phone call that made me rethink cataloging old receipts
Last Tuesday I was at the Cleveland public library scanning a box of 1940s grocery receipts when a guy on the phone next to me said he had been logging his own receipts in a spreadsheet for 14 years to track food prices. I sat there half listening while my scanner hummed and thought about how that is basically what I do for 40 hours a week, except he does it for free and no one pays him. Does anyone else here ever feel like the weird hobby version of their job is more fun than the actual job?
