Can we talk about how nobody respects receipt cataloging until the audit hits?
I work at a small accounting office in Boise and spent 6 hours on a Saturday matching 4,200 crumpled receipts to line items for a restaurant client. Everyone told me this job was pointless busywork until the IRS flagged two quarters of missing deductions and my paper trail saved the guy $11,000. The part nobody gets is that you have to learn how each store prints its dates, because Home Depot and Staples format them differently and one wrong read throws off the whole month. Does anyone else actually enjoy this stuff, or am I just weird for liking the puzzle?
