Paste pots gone wrong, parchment paper is the answer

I make my own wheat paste for paper repairs and always struggled with cleanup. Last month I tried lining the inside of my glue pot with parchment paper before pouring the paste in. When the session was over, I just lifted the whole dried crust out and tossed it, and the pot underneath was practically spotless. I used to spend 20 minutes scrubbing dried paste off the sides with hot water, and I always managed to get bits of it into the next batch, which caused clumping. The paper also made it easier to see how much paste I had left since it didn't stick to the dark ceramic. Has anyone else tried this with methylcellulose, or does that stuff eat through parchment differently? I'm curious if the same trick works for a longer drying time.
