My buddy Dan pulled out a copy of Axis & Allies at his place in Dayton and I forgot how much table talk matters
Last Friday I drove over to Dan's place in Dayton for game night and he pulled out his beat up copy of Axis & Allies, the one with the rubber band holding the box shut. Somewhere in hour three he looked up and said the hobby got quieter once everyone started watching rules videos on their phones instead of arguing it out at the table. That hit me harder than I expected because I realized my own group barely talks anymore, we just stare at screens during setup and bluff our way through the tricky parts. I still love the new stuff but I miss the days when figuring out a rule meant four people yelling across a kitchen table. Anyone else notice their group chats less during games now, or is that just a me and Dan thing?
